Another rarity spotted in the parking area last Saturday during the auction in Toffen, Switzerland.

Buick GS Convertible from the 1970–1972 series, most likely a 1971 model with the 350 engine and no bucket seats. Around 600 units were produced this year.

The grille badge claims the car was built in Biel, Switzerland, but that's doubtful, since Buick stopped assembling cars there in 1958.

Still, as Buick once said, it's a fast car with a lot of class.

Dear Sir or Madam,

Thank you for attending the auction in Toffen last Saturday with your yellow Silver Shadow, if I'm not mistaken, in Primrose Yellow. It is a truly marvelous shade that suits the first series of the Shadow beautifully, almost like a cure de jouvence.

I couldn't help but wonder. Did you choose this color because your neighbor owns a grey one? Or perhaps you benefited from a particularly generous discount thanks to its unique... color?

In any case, congratulations, this is a stunning color. Personally, I would value it even more than a grey example (neighbor considerations aside!).

Wishing you many enjoyable drives. Best regards, Nicolas

Do you remember Saab? Good. Do you remember when they tried to build light, innovative sports cars? Even better. Take a look at these two Saab Sonett.

Over the weekend, both were offered at an auction in Toffen, CH. The older one, the red 1969 Sonett II V4, was sold subject to approval for CHF 23'000, excluding commission. The newer one, the orange 1973 Sonett III V4, remained unsold, with a highest bid of CHF 18'000.

Given the car's rarity, around 10'000 units produced across all versions, and its distinctive, unconventional design, it's surprising that demand wasn’t higher.

And the Sonett III is a cheap ticket for pop-up lights... which are operated manually using a lever.
