Salon 25 Retro Mecanika

We attend every year several Swiss and international salons, auctions, swap meets, and races. For some events, we share pictures of classic motor cars that caught our eye, to complete our posts on Instagram, Threads, and YouTube.

Pictures are presented in the form of a carrousel or alternatively of a gallery.

Alvis Speed 25 1938 Cross and Ellis Tourer, officially a '4 Seater Sports'. According to my information and my records, this is a SC version, which was despatched in May 1938.

This nice, cream or ivory color is not the original one, the car used to be black. but it fits the car beautifully. The English registration seen on the pics, is not the original one, too.

The car was sold (I think quite recently) by a famous, large St. Louis dealer in the US and now it is in Switzerland. I saw this marvel at the Retro Mecanika in Geneva two weeks ago. This car shows again, that Alvis was a great brand. Splendid. By the way, this specific car is for rent in the Geneva area.

Another great, British car. Vauxhall PA Cresta, probably after 1959, because in 1959 the three-piece rear window was swapped for a single-piece wrap-around item, which this car has.

They were really good in the late 1950s and early 1960s, in particular thanks to their unstressed straight-six engine.

The owner drove his or her beauty, during a few hours coming from the German-speaking part of Switzerland, under the rain, to show up in Geneva at Retro Mecanika. Thanks a lot.

Rare. Unique. Morris Spiaggetta Michelotti. The base car had to be an English car, because this beach car was planned for countries like Australia.

I think the car was built in 1977. Therefore, when the owner says 'Morris 1300' as basis, it is either an ADO16... which was not produced anymore in 1977 or a Marina 1300... Maybe the owner can comment respectively correct me. Anyway, enjoy the car. And thanks for bringing it to Geneva.

You do not see it yet, but this is a rare 23 IE Prestige. This used to be the car of former French Prime Minister Pierre Messmer.

The car was built by Henri Chapron (around 200 pieces were made). It has a partition to separate the rear passengers from the driver. If I am not mistaken, this nice feature... reduces a bit the space available for the driver... impacting the way to drive the car...

A famous, well-known, Swiss Chevronist is currently restoring the car. Thanks for bringing this car in this condition to Geneva.

By the way Pierre Messmer was a French politician, who served as Prime Minister between 1972 and 1974. In the 1960s, he was Minister of the Armed Forces in France.

Probably the most beautiful car in the parking at RetroMecanika this week-end. And the rain did not stop the driver to show up with his or her splendid car.

Ferrari 250 GT 2+2 or GTE 2+2 if am not mistaken, produced between 1960 and 1963. 3-litre V12, what else? Thanks to the driver.

PULL HANDLE

1962 MG B, pull handle, 2111th built according to the seller. Seen in RetroMecanika in Geneva. B built between 1962 and 1965 have an external door handle which is mobile and hinged at the back edge. Later cars have a push button incorporated into a fixed handle.

It probably has an engine with only three main bearings supporting the crankshaft, instead of five. A three main may rev quicker, but a five main would be stronger. Great car, anyway.
