1925 Lancia Lambda Serie 5 Torpedo. The first one I’ve seen in the flesh, spotted at the auction in Toffen last Sunday. Unsold, with an estimate of CHF 140K-160K and a highest bid of CHF 50K. Probably not the right place to sell a car like this.

Vincenzo Lancia condensed an extraordinary amount of engineering innovation into this car. The Lambda was one of the first production cars to abandon the conventional separate chassis derived from horse-drawn carriages. Instead, it featured a load-bearing, self-supporting body structure. It also introduced independent front suspension and a compact, narrow-angle V4 engine, combining more power with a remarkably compact design. The narrow-angle V concept that Volkswagen would revisit decades later under the VR label... If not mistaken, this car has even a four-speed gearbox. Splendid car.
